Thank you for the opportunity and privilege of honoring those who were so important to you that have passed.

FOUNDER AND CARETAKER

Hello

My name is Dawn Herbort Sultemeier. I am a 5th generation Gillespie County Native. My wonderful husband, Brian, and I were high school sweethearts and we have one son, Reed. Growing up I had the privilege of spending a lot of time with both of my grandmothers. They each taught me so many things and instilled values that made me the person I am today.

MY STORY

A Promise for Every Season.

Spending time with Omie Herbort meant working in the yard, cooking, dancing, and playing dominoes. She didn’t drive so we walked everywhere. One of her many wonderful qualities was how she honored our loved ones who had passed. She would put together some flowers for every season and we would walk to the various cemeteries in town to place them. While there, she would have me “tidy up” some of the other gravesites. It taught me that respecting and caring for the final resting place of someone you loved was so important. She told me that sometimes people’s families couldn’t get there to take care of them, so since we were there we should do it. I didn’t understand it then, but I do now. Spending time with Nanny Weinheimer meant baking and also working in the garden and flower beds. Nanny loved her flowers and was always making arrangements for church, friends, or just because they were blooming. She passed her love of flowers and flower arrangements on to me. They have both passed on, but I keep fresh flowers in my house most of the time in honor of them.   After a very fulfilling career in nursing for 30+ years, it’s time for a change. I want to bring my love for flowers and the values instilled in me as service for others. I am hopeful that Grace & Graves will bring you peace of mind knowing that your loved one’s final resting place is being looked after with the utmost respect and care.
